Film Oxford and Fusion Arts are pleased to announce confirmation of funding for iCreative: a new and exciting platform for young people between 15 – 24 years old looking to work in the Creative Industries. The programme is supported by the ESF (European Social Fund), the Skills Funding Agency, OXLEP and Arts Council England.
Over the next eight months Film Oxford and Fusion Arts will deliver two creative industry training programmes. The first linked to the Cowley Road Carnival (2 July) and the second to the Christmas Light Festival (24-26 November). Over each programme participants will gain an understanding of the breadth of opportunities in the creative industries and receive inspiring training in a chosen discipline such as graphic design, moving image, sound engineering and digital art. They will meet and work with local professionals on a creative brief linked to Oxford’s flagship festivals and then receive mentoring and support into further training and employment opportunities.
Over the programmes participants will work towards a Silver Arts Award and build up their own digital profiles to be featured on the iCreative website – offering a new platform and shop window for our local ‘up and coming’ talent.
The iCreative web site is now under construction with launch and call for applications for the first programme (May – July) in mid April 2017. This will be accompanied by a week of Roadshow recruitment workshops visiting youth communities throughout the county.
