Young, Creative, Talented?
Thinking of working in the Creative Industries but not sure where to start?
Then iCreative is for you!
iCreative is a free and innovative programme of training, production and mentoring for young creative talent (15 -24) looking to work in the local creative industries. It is aimed at young people – unemployed or in part-time training or work – with creative talent who are not clear on their next steps.
The aim of the project is to train and link young people with industry, mapping out further training opportunities and employment pathways into the creative sectors.
Next Course: October - November 2017
iCreative – Christmas Light Festival – Applications now open
This iCreative course will work towards projection installations to mark the opening of the new Westgate shopping centre, as part of Oxfords Christmas Light Festival.
The project will give you the opportunity to learn new skills in: Film, Graphics, Projection, Exhibition and Installation.
We are particularly looking for young creative people between 15 – 24. Sessions will take place on Thursdays from 5th October until 23rd Nov – with some additional sessions closer the Christmas Lights Festival (17th – 19th Nov). There will be production day workshops on Tues 31st Oct, Wed 1st Nov and Thurs 2nd Nov – it is very important that you can attend these.
The project will be inspired by the reminiscence project ‘Urbansuburban’ by local artist Rachel Barbaresi which explores the connection local people feel with the area of old St Ebbes where the Westgate Shopping development is taking place. Rachel will be working with the programme, supported by internationally recognised projection and time based media artists, Chris Oakley and Peter Walker from Luxmuralis.
In summary the iCreative project will:
- Build an understanding of the breadth of opportunity in the expanding Creative Industries locally
- Develop new skills in Creative Arts practice working on a live community project
- Build links with the local Creative Industries through networking events, guest speakers, visits and working to a ‘live’ production brief
- Develop impressive digital profiles and map clear personal pathways into further training or the industry
- Offer Mentoring and support for 6 months after the training programme (July – Dec 2017)
- Offer a Silver Arts Award accreditation.
The project is free with travel bursaries available for those on limited income.
